Posts/comments on wow_ladies (Livejournal) from part_seventeen September 2007 - May 2008 ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3477849.html That sounds awesome. I know how hard it is to find a good and friendly guild that suits your playstyle and time when it comes to raiding ^_^ I hope it works out for you, Karazhan is a very fun instance and everybody will love you if you're a good healer. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3536197.html HA that's awesome. It's also my goal to level a shaman and druid- right now I just have a holy priest and paladin (leveling prot, but holy at 70!). ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3549107.html What Battlegroup are you in? My friend and I got pwned in the arena by a druid named Msmoo and her friend a few weeks ago... the name stuck in my head. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3559857.html Wow, that is awesome. My guild has been stuck on her for about a month, we've probably had a good 12-16 hours worth of attempt time in now :/ Congratulations! ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3573899.html Unfortunately I can't answer your main question ^^ But just fyi, the "chess" game in Karazhan is in fact not like real chess at all. Any piece can move in any direction, so just think of it as controlling an army of pets that take "turns" to move. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3592153.html I have that mount. I did, in fact, do the grind at level 60 as a holy priest on a PVP server when you only got 50 rep per turn in. Needless to say, I'm a complete and utter masochist. I would never have completed it without help from someone who became one of my best WoW friends. They are rare. I think that, including me, there's less than 10 on my server (I no longer am on the server I did the grind on - I know I was the 5th person to get it on that server). Anyway, basically now you are 70 and TBC is out, you have it easy. I don't mean to sound crotchety and grumpy ;P But the rep is up to 75 per turn in, the Furbolg village is no longer camped night and day by people farming raid buffs (the fire water and the juju), and (this may not apply to you if you're PVE) you no longer have to worry about Horde camping your ass and making it impossible for you to do any quests (unless some 70 was really bored). Not to mention, at 70, you can pretty much take out the entire Furbolg village in 1-2 minutes. More than 50% of the time is actually probably spent running back and forth to the rock to turn the quests in. Luckily, again with TBC you have an excellent speed boost, the Riding Crop. Get one. About the grind itself...It took me probably around somewhere 15 days /played. Yeah, 15 days of my life for an imaginary, virtual purple cat that is essentially worthless. At the time I was really depressed and had just broken up with my boyfriend of several years, and basically I did nothing but lock myself indoors and play videogames, mostly WoW, for a few months straight. Now I have no idea about the circumstance other people have grinded theirs in, but I'm saying it takes some crazy mindset/dedication to do such a mind numbing and repetitive grind. But then, at the time that's what I wanted- something mindless to take my mind off my hurt feelings. Also as I mentioned, I did it with the help of a friend who was also grinding it. Most of the time we would just chat whilst we did it and that was great. If Horde turned up, he'd help defend me. If one of us had to go AFK, we'd autofollow eachother to save time. It's weird but I have "fond" memories of Winterspring because of him. Even though I feel silly for it, being "just a game". As you can see, I have a lot to say about this mount. Despite everything, I'm very fond of it and if I could take back the time I spent getting it, I wouldn't. However, it's not really the mount I value, but the memories I have attached to it... I would not recommend doing the grind yourself unless you have extreme amounts of patience and tolerance for brain killing repetitiveness. All that said here's a pic of me and my kitty at AV weekend. I actually saw 3 other people who had the mount in AV over the weekend. Perhaps they're not so rare anymore now that it is easier ^_^ https://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s156/delicious_cake/Deleriumm/WoWScrnShot_100107_190910.jpg ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3630346.html Yep, in fact it seems lock tanks are becoming more common in some encounters...see: Leo the Blind in SSC for another example. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3632263.html [Farmers Broom] had their graphic changed this patch. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3668859.html hey, congrats! i love both your character name and your screenshot. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3685012.html Congrats on Vashj, my guild killed her recently also. It's an epic fight ^^ ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3706093.html I've been in a similar situation to you. I was on the verge of transferring off my server and leaving my friends due to a crappy guild, when suddenly a spot opened in one of the top guilds on the server, and I was accepted! I am now in a super awesome guild that just cleared SSC and are nearly at Kael. My advice would be this; firstly your guild sounds terrible and theres no reason you should stay with them being miserable and wasting your time. Secondly, patience and asking around in the other raiding guilds may pay off. Spots -do- open up, even for DPS classes (my main is a mage). If you really end up not being able to get into another guild that will accept/suit your requirements, then short of quitting, what I would do is reroll a character. Either xfer your 70 to raid with her, and level up a new one to be with your friends on your old realm, or reroll a new character on a realm where you potentially have a lot more raiding options. Prolly not the answer you exactly wanted to hear, but that's what I'd have ended up doing had I not gotten into my new guild. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3753297.html There are honestly so many fights in high end raiding where you take unavoidable splash damage / are afflicted by high damage spells at random that i consider stamina important enough that i carry round a lot of +stam items to switch out with my gear set. of course spell dmg/crit/hit are infinitely more important, but i think collecting stamina gear is important for mages now. running around with 5k hp is bad ._. /tangent. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3795823.html I think my female characters look hawt in skimpy clothing and have no issue with it. At best, I find it funny how much armor or stats I can stack in a thong. At worst, I just don't care. Feminism is ashamed of me or something. ************** QFT. I think some women are just as perverted as men >_> I mean I wouldn't mind if male armor in game was equally skimpy...heh. My character has a nice butt. Nothing wrong with a bit of digital ass <_< ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3809895.html IAWTC i have a longstanding male friend i met in-game who i discovered was only 14 at the time. he's way more intelligent than some 20+ year olds i know. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3812941.html You aren't overreacting. They wouldn't listen to you when you were giving them a logical piece of advice. Healing assignments exist for a reason! Raiding is ALL about cooperating and LISTENING to others opinions and thoughts on how best to handle something, whether it be trash or bosses. If a petty squabble like that can be sparked so easily, and they brush you aside, its not surprising that they can't even kill Moroes. And yes, it's incredibly immature to go complaining about you like that to your own mother. Stay with them if you feel you have to, but personally I wouldn't be obligated to if you receive that kind of treatment... ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3823341.html You can't move in shadowmeld, that would be pretty damn overpowered. If he went into animal form and moved around he was using stealth, despite whatever he said. ************** Then he was either A) A rogue and not a druid :P B) Hacking C) Bugged, either technically or graphically. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3826559.html I've not had one blossom *in* WoW but I used to play WoW with my ex-boyfriend, whom I met on the internet before we dated in RL. I think meeting someone via WoW can potentially be just as valid as any online, or offline, relationship. That said, all the precautions and stuff one must take with online relationships holds true... Also, check yourself to make sure you're not just 'rebounding' if you recently broke up with your ex. Take it slow, see where it goes. But don't be inhibited! ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3876569.html IAWTC random guild invites tend to be from guilds that will recruit anyone - which means theres no control over the kind of people or the maturity of those that you will meet in the guild. whilst really small guilds can be lonely, really really big guilds always recruiting a ton of players suffer the opposite problem of a lot of players seldom willing to help eachother but all needing help. obviously this is a stereotype but its one i've found to be true, over all. realm forums or even just getting to know people you meet in game and asking to join their guild (if you get along well) can work. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3876761.html Congrats! It looks great with the Azure whelp! I did it pre-bc, when it was 50 rep per turn in T_T and I am also a holy priest. ************** Yes, part of me can't help but feel a tiny bit cheated :P However it was the most ridiculous and horrible rep grind in the game imo, and it's a good thing they made it so much easier now. If I had not had certain friends helping me out a lot when I did the original grind, I would never have completed it, it was just so mind numbingly bad. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3877326.html i shudder at the thought of any raid without BoS D: ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3877885.html i have 4 level 70 characters. 3 of them i grinded all 5 heroic reps out to revered long before the patch. guess what, i'm reeeeeally reallly farking happy i won't have to do that for my fourth. ************** and @ the people who are complaining about n00bs in their PUG heroics - well, don't PUG then. that's what a good guild is for. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3879108.html I do the same as you in Heroics; if you draw threat I feel it's more of the tank's responsibility than your fault. You can't *not* heal the tank in a heroic therefore he must be able to generate enough aggro to accomodate for that. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3880034.html other classes are the rock paper scissors.... warlocks are the atom bomb :P ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3894087.html lol on my first wow character (a balance druid, lewl) i wore a cloth robe (for the looks) with strength on it (which i disregarded) because it had more armor than the caster stat robes.... /facepalm ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3896285.html Hey, I'm a draenei mage as well! Yay for that! Cadey gave you some really good advice, so I'll try not to repeat too much what she said already. You'll probably want to spend some time running normal (as opposed to heroic) 5 man instances a bit to get good (blue) quality armor that's appropriate to your class. If you're gearing up for raiding, you generally want to prioritise stats as Spell Hit > Spell Damage > Spell Crit, and after that you can mix intellect, stam, and a bit of spirit. The reason you need to have lots of +spell hit is that raid mobs are higher level than normal mobs, and bosses especially have a high chance to resist your spells. +spell hit reduces that chance. basically if you have no or little +spell hit, you will be wasting all your mana on spells that get resisted, and your damage will be really low and crappy because of all the resists. There are certain talents you can get as a mage that will reduce your enemies chance to resist you. Also, as a draenei, you have a racial +1% spell hit anyway (though it doesn't show up on your character sheet, it DOES affect you as well as party members). It's also a good idea to get a Threat Meter, KTM/KLH and Omen are the most popular threat meters. Mages are high dps and high aggro so you need to be learn to control your dps at times by making sure you don't overtake the tank's aggro, and then knowing when he has enough aggro that you can go all out. In most raids, if you draw aggro you can wipe the raid. Like Cadey said, once you get good (blue or purple) gear, get it enchanted! You can also buy spellthread from a tailor to enchant your pants and an enchant from Sha'tar that will improve your helm once you're Revered with them. Make sure you always have plenty of mana pots on you (I always bring about 20 or more) and any buffs you can make, find or buy. Also, never ever forget to repair. Try and make it a habit to repair every time you go to a vendor that can repair you, even if you've only taken 1 durability hit. I don't know if you are in a guild already or not...but assuming you're looking for a guild that does raids, it's good to look on your realm forums (they're a sub section of the official blizzard/wow forums). People often post Guild Recruitment posts there, or arrange raids. You could even make a post yourself saying you're looking to start raiding Karazhan. There are a lot of really bad guilds and really bad raiders, so if you have a bad/miserable experience with either don't be discouraged, just keep looking. Lastly I guess, many raid guilds use Ventrilo or Teamspeak. You don't need a mic, but I'd download it so you can listen to them. If 1 person is not listening to Vent/TS then they can mess up because they didn't get instructions or warnings in time. I have only ever been in 1 raid guild that didn't use some kind of voice chat. Oh and unless you rolled there with a partner, being on a new realm is always lonely at first. My advice is stick it out for a bit, 2 of my now best friends in RL/out of game I met completely randomly in WoW. And I've made many more good acquaintances just through doing 'normal wow' things like running dungeons, pvp etc. However if you're still lonely on your realm you're totally welcome to hop over to mine =P good luck! ************** you're welcome. i get chatty because this is all the stuff i wish i knew when i hit the level cap on my first character at 60 >_< of course it still applies at 70. it took me ages to learn how to play my class well because no one was there to answer my questions or correct me doing something wrong most of the time. if you got any more questions, fire away. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3923099.html I know how it is. I'm an adult now but ever since I started using the internet when I was about 12, I would connect to people a lot older/more mature than me. I had the same fear they'd stop talking to me once they found out I was a lot younger but, of course, because they were good friends, they didn't. Anyway now I -am- an adult, most of my friends are still older than me. And the majority of 'kids' I meet in WoW fit the horrendous stereotype you described =/ On the other hand, one of my best friends who I met in WoW is only 15. And he's really fucking smart. Its not like you magical become this super mature super awesome person the moment you hit 18 or 21 or whatever either. There's plenty of adults who are just as obnoxious, rude and terrible as children, if not more so. TL;DR, I agree with you. A good guild will take you based on your level of maturity I think. As others have mentioned, a lot of kids have limited playtime/bedtime due to school and parents, so more dedicated raiding guilds would have problems about that. And 'kids' are generally viewed as less reliable people than adults. But anyone who rejects you based on your age before getting to know you even a little isn't worth playing with. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3932365.html I levelled my warrior full fury and tanked stuff up to the 50s range just fine, and this was pre-BC. Then I went arms at 60...went Prot at 65 when Outlands instances became more difficult. Multi-mob tanking as a warrior is harder than a paladin or druid, IMO, I'm not awesome at it myself yet but really you have the right idea. Just gotta do a lot of button mashing, and it is easier as prot. A good thing to have is a tab-sunder macro. Check out the macro thread on the official WoW Warrior forums - I know theres one that you can hit, that will tab sunder nearby mobs without losing your current target. it's v. useful. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3934550.html People often ask how many hours a week is "too much WoW". Well, I think the answer is: when it interferes with your real life and real life relationships. That sounds like what's happening to you, because of your boyfriend. I don't really have any advice to give, except that I think that when he's ignoring "together" time with you is when it becomes "too much". ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3949374.html I tanked heroic UB for the first time the other day - hard work, and those giants are a bitch, but way fun. You should friend the guy who gave you the gems and chat to him some more. I'm sure they would take you on more Heroics with them if you got friendly. Good people > PUGS any day. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3962350.html Me too! Woman or man, s/he is hawt and more humans should look like this. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3962999.html IAWTC so bad. He needs a guild of like-mindedly self absorbed leet raider dudes with leadership complexes doin it for the purps, imo :P ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3966383.html AFAIK growl doesn't generate extra aggro if the mob is already on you, so no need to spam it unless you have lost aggro on the mob ^^ ************** i've had a resto druid tank a dungeon for me flawlessly, so really its about having some decent tanking gear and knowing what you're doing. both come with time, and practice. but if you don't want to tank, then its better to offer to heal or dps, than to be forced into a role you dont want to do. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3975096.html actually it doesn't. unless you are in one of those uber guilds that cleared BT a month after it came out, i highly doubt most of your guild members have the drive to raid 7 days a week. any smart guild leader would know this, and pace themselves. 7 weeks a night = burnout enjoy your guild's death sentence -_- ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/3979524.html groups with 2 healers can work out just great. i've done a lot of the harder heroics like arcatraz and mana tombs with two healers and it's prevented many wipes. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/4007968.html I do that too, but I've heard the more intelligent keyloggers can simply look and see what's on your clipboard. ************** That's pretty much my setup, so fingers crossed indeed. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/4072245.html Wow, it only took you 35 hours played? That is insane. Pre-BC when it was only 50 rep per turn in and everyone was farming WS village for Firewater, it took me somewhere around 15-20 days /played over the course of about 6 months. Grats, anyways! ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/4102915.html Major congrats! That is quite an achievement. It's been 2 months since my guild killed Lady Vashj and we still haven't gotten Kael down, yet. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/4110815.html This exact same thing happened to an Officer in my guild that was hacked several weeks ago. Whilst the GMs restored all his personal armor and gold, they have still refused to restore all the 15,000 gold and thousands more worth of items our bank lost, despite all the petitions we sent in. =/ ************** we had pretty strict measures on ours, only officers, their alts, and the gm could withdraw. however it was an officer that got hacked. the hacker, after maxing his withdrawal limit, /ginivited a bunch of lvl 1s, promoted them to officer alts and had them withdraw over and over til it was empty. it was the middle of the night, so the few people that were on didnt have the power to /gkick or anything. so yeah or security setup was like yours, didn't quite stop them :/ ************** well you realise that the main motivation for stealing WoW gold and hacking accounts is to make real money? most of these people don't want it for their own in-game gain, and i presume that very few if any do it for the misery it causes - they want it to sell. i'm wary of going to gold-selling sites even to just see what the price is now, but last i heard WoW gold goes for a lot of real cash - and someone, somewhere, with more money than sense will always buy it. not all gold for sale is farmed by bots or chinese people 24 hrs a day. a lot of it is taken from hacked accounts. ************** *i'm wary of going to gold selling sites even for the sake of pure curiousity due to the fact that i'm quite sure many of them are riddled with keyloggers...call me paranoid but its the perfect scheme to hack someones account, take their gold and sell it right back to them. ************** i agree 100% with you. "time is money" and many of blizzard's customers have put a LOT of time -and money- into playing this game. i know many people ingame including myself probably have somewhere in the range of 100+ days played. i think that their whole security system is quite pathetic and needs a serious upgrade :/ guild banks aside, this issue in particular wouldn't even be happening if people's accounts themselves had more security on them. honestly i really don't like the idea of just 1 password, between them and my account. i'd like to see "optional security" measures you can put in place, since obviously not everyone cares as much and to some it might just be annoying. but security questions, or only allowing logons from a certain IP (assuming yours doesn't change frequently), lockout if you fail to login a certain number of times, or logs of when/where you've logged on....stuff like that, i'd use it. some would say its over the top but for the amount of effort and passion people put into WoW i hardly think its a terrible thing to make an account harder to access. and well, if they could deal with account security hackings, then we have less guild banks to worry about. bleh. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/4140665.html i've had a priest for about 2 years now. i was shadow pre-bc when everyone pretty much considered it a worthless spec, and i went holy in bc when suddenly people were omgzinlove with spriests because of VT and their DPS buffs. i believe that you should play the spec you enjoy most. if you go shadow, its good to collect a healing set of gear so you can be flexible, and vice versa. my friend who was full shadow healed just about every l70 5 man (non heroic) in dungeon healing blues, but then he has mad skillz =P if there's one thing i've learned its that being pressured into a spec you don't want to be is the quickest way to hate your character and get burned out. my advice would be to experiment with being holy because you may be surprised at how much you like it, but stay shadow with a few points in disc (as a priest no matter what spec, you really want meditation). ************** last sentence= *but OTHERWISE stay shadow... ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/4149767.html IAWTC. There are bad female players just as there are bad male players, but I certainly know a lot of female players - tanks, healers and dps - who can, ehem, "pwn" their male counterparts. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/4169775.html That is so cute. I found BWL fun but it never yielded me much loots which was frustrating. I had 4/8 Tier 2- although ironically I had all the pieces that made it look (without inspecting me) that I had 8/8. Heh. The screenshots and the explanations are great. Which server are you on? I'm Alliance on RP as well but I doubt we're on the same one... ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/4188298.html zomg, are you serious? I need! You -have- to tell me where the goblins are, I gotta get this before they disappear! ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/4225239.html IAWTC I started playing when I was 15 and I am 18 now; I consider myself to have been both polite and mature throughout my entire WoW-playing time. Certainly, I have never flamed anyone in this manner. One of my friends IRL I met through the game also and he was 14 when I met him, and he -is- more intelligent and considerate than many older players I encountered. It is true that younger players have a greater likelihood to be immature or rude than older ones, I think. Even if its due just to ignorance, trying to conform, not understand or respecting other players (not all young people are going to perceive the other toons around them as real 'humans'). However, I believe that jerks and downright abusive people come in all sexes, ages, classes, races and spelling abilities =/ If 'adult' servers existed I bet they would be just as rife with drama and abuse as 'normal' servers, not to mention perhaps more rude/sexually explicit with the excuse that "This is an Adult server, we're ALLOWED to behave like this". Not to mention, there is no way to verify that an adult is not letting their child play on their account at any time, and so it would ultimately be impossible to exclude under 18s--which I think is a ridiculous concept anyway. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/4231719.html My raid leader assigns what curses warlocks put up, but then he is a mage so he's sympathetic to the cause. ************** Arcane has also been somewhat nerfed by the (I think it was) Mystical Skyfire Gem nerf - the one that reduces casting speed? Can no longer proc more than once in a certain time. Since arcane is very crit based, it used to proc a LOT. Ditto the Lightning Capacitor. Rather disappointing =( /tangent ************** Heavy Arcane is very mana intensive and unless you have the gear to support it or like to chain chug mana pots I wouldnt recommend it at the moment. Heavy Fire is my spec, its fun and I like it but as others said, it doesn't really matter WHAT damage spec you are for Kara, gear and knowing wtf you're doing is more important. Tell your friends or whoever that if Frost Mages can't go to Kara, then why is there a cloth item in there with +Frost dmg and spell hit? =P (the item in question drops off trash, tis a pair o' gloves) ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/4330035.html I play on Silver Hand Alliance as well, and correction there are about 4, possibly 5 guilds in BT by now ^^ My own guild is one of them. I love my guild, the people in it, and the community of Silver Hand overall is great-- there are asshats, but the asshat-to-awesome ratio is unusually low for, well, WoW. I agree that roleplay is something you have to look for though. It will rarely if ever happen to you spontaneously unless you initiate it. I have met a few people who are like "blah blah, I'm sick of SH" but I just don't get it...it's a lovely but eccentric server =P ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/4377978.html Yeah, I had to uninstall/reinstall and repatch WoW today after my files got corrupted patching. Suckage. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/4585243.html I've played both sides to 70 and I have experienced about equal jackassery from both factions. It has little to do with the faction, and more to do with which side you're on and the fact that there are many asshats in WoW altogether. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/4608247.html you might want to make the 2nd poll multiple check boxes, i checked pve but i played pvp for one year and stilll have a level 60+ character on pvp. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/4667140.html Excuse me if this is somewhat off-topic, but do any of you ladies read WoW fanfic, and can you possibly point me in the direction of some? I'm looking for something well-written, that centers more around original characters than canon heroes like Jaina or Thrall. Preferably no slash or overly erotic stories, which I certainly have nothing against, but I'm looking for something with more of a solid plot/point than just omgz hawt secks. Again sorry if this is off-topic and not relevant to the comm. edit- I'm checking out all the fanfic tagged entries but I'd still appreciate any extra links/sites or input. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/4685531.html I'm a fire mage with icy veins, I love it, like it way better than 10/48/3. I don't do 10mans at the moment, but in 25s I can use it 1-3 times per fight roughly. One of those times, I usually have Heroism, and it currently stacks so you get insane machine gun fireballs popping out. Also, if you start getting +haste gear (for you, it would be from heroic badges or ZA) that complements it pretty well (I don't have a lot yet). http://www.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Silver+Hand&n=Iokastia Here is my spec. I specifically chose imp Flamestrike because I use it constantly in Mt Hyjal, Impact also stuns the trash. I don't miss Pyro but Blast Wave was a pretty fun spell. I thought Frost Warding might be useful for Najentus but I end up using Mage Armor on that fight so I kinda wish I'd gone 5/5 imp Frostbolt for dealing with fire immune mobs. But if you want a guideline template, there it is. Finally, w00t for being Draenei Mages and grats on 70! ************** Yes, that's why I explained my talent choices hehe - and if you went with an IV spec, why you may want to switch them around since you're not in Hyjal/BT, I was thinking of alot of specific boss fights as you can see. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/4782974.html Can't help you with the Rogue questions but I currently have 0 points in Silent Resolve on my Priest and I nearly never draw aggro or even have to use Fade unless I, say, heal a tank after the mob is pulled but he hasn't hit it yet. I have no idea whether your tanks are PUGs or guildies, but I just can't imagine how you could be drawing threat unless you are dealing with a lot of very bad tanks. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/4959974.html I don't think TRS have killed him yet, I could be wrong though... ************** Gasp, congratulations! I'm in The Valiant on SH. I wish we were progressing as fast as you guys, letting Archimonde kick our asses still though =( ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5099104.html Hi WoW_Ladies! This is a raiding recruitment post. I seem to recall seeing similar posts here, so I hope it's allowed. I am not an Officer in my guild and they don't know I'm posting this, but this is directly relevant to my interests and after not having responses to our guild posts on the realm forums I thought I might throw this out there. I play a Mage in endgame, our guild is 5/5 Hyjal and 5/9 BT currently. I have been wanting to change my raiding main for a while but my guild leader has said it's probably not likely until we get another fulltime Mage or even (possibly) Elemental Shaman. Whilst I do like my Mage, I have been wanting to go back to my Priest for a long time, during which we have had absolutely zero apps from Mages ._. So I'm getting quite disheartened. Here are the basics- Server - Silver Hand US - PVE/RP Realm - PST Our guild is [The Valiant], we recently killed Archimonde (twice so far) and are about to start working on RoS in Black Temple. We raid 25-mans Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 7 til 11 server time (PST). On off days we run a lot of KZ, ZA and Heroic groups if you're into that sort of thing. Our website is here - http://www.the-valiant.com/ and you can apply to us here - http://www.the-valiant.com/forums/index.php?board=11.0 We use a zero sum DKP system. Items are a set price with no bidding and go to the person with the most DKP that desires the item @ that price. DKP is seperated by Tiers of raids - SSC DKP doesn't carry over to Hyjal/BT, and Hyjal/BT won't carry over to Sunwell. Loot shouldn't be your main concern but gearing up if you're a little undergeared shouldn't be a problem either, we DE most of the items that drop as far as 4/5 and 4/9. What's more important than your gear is that you're a friendly, smart person with a good sense of humour. There are some interesting personalities in my guild, most (ahem...most) of the people in it are pretty easygoing, and I would say the average age of most raiders is about 25. We're relatively drama free and whilst we're not the most hardcore guild, we are actively progressing. I love this guild and I don't want to leave them just so I can raid on a different character. So please, if any of you lovely raiding ladies that play a Mage or Elemental Shaman are looking for a new home, check us out. You would be doing me a huge favor =P Thank you for your time. ************** Hi =) ************** Bear in mind that the following is just my opinion as the Mage you might replace, NOT my guild leader or officers that are in charge of actually recruiting: You're pretty much at the minimum gear end of the spectrum that I could see us recruiting. You have roughly the same stats that I had when I joined the guild at the start of SSC. You are hit capped, which is great. My guild leader is also a Mage and he is very selective about who he recruits, he likes to see a lot of effort having gone into your character (getting crafted stuff, fully enchanted, faction or profession items & badge gear etc). I would say that the weakness in your gear is that you've focused more on getting PVP gear than the Heroic badge reward gear for mages, a lot of which is T5 and (when the new vendor opens) T6 equiv stuff. We have one mage in our guild that wears a lot of PVP stuff in PVE but he's not really a core raider. It's OK, but not ideal. Gearwise what might improve your app is getting both the Spellstrike Head & Legs, a new neckpiece like you said, and replacing your Ribbon trinket with either the the Icon trinket (41 badges, +44 spell dmg & a use value) or the new Alchemist's Stone from Exalted with Shattered Sun Offensive. My mage is an Alchemist as well and the trinket is simply amazing. It was expensive to make though, I think it set me back about 1,000g. Your spec looks fine, it's quite similar to my spec. There's a few points I'd re-allocate but no point nitpicking it atm. Gear and spec aside, I did mention my GL is picky about who he recruits. Mainly I think he looks for people that have a good personality, when he recruited me we had a long talk on vent and I ran a couple Heroics with him. He rarely if ever /gkicks people simply because he's selective in recruiting good people as well as good raiders. In honesty, I don't think he will recruit someone he hasn't either had the chance to play with or had a decent interview with. If you're interested, you may want to send him a PM on our forums (name = Austin). He would tell you whether your gear was really feasible, and what your real chances of getting in would be if he likes you! If you're serious bear in mind there's always the chance you'd transfer and you would not be ideal for the guild. There's always that risk when xferring to guilds, but Silver Hand has some great, friendly raiding guilds aside from us and one might be a fit for you in that scenario ^^ If you have any more questions feel free to ask! ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5109586.html just curious, what BG are you on? also grats! ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5134125.html I was so proud to get that full set @ level 60-- more proud than I was to get my T1 full set which I got at the same time-- probably because I put more effort into succeeding at the questline than I ever did bumming around in MC. And yeah, your comment was the first thing someone said to me when I walked around Ironforge wearing it <_< ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5164795.html I do similar things, I've indicated (but not outright said) I'm male on many occassions just to fuck with people. Once, in a PUG, where we were discussing female toons vs male players, we had a vote as to what we thought the sex of the other PUG members were. I was voted male by everyone except my IRL friend >_ ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5171167.html Sorry but I actually agree with this guy. Even when I NEEDED Kara gear 10 months ago and was in a guild that could barely down Prince, we always used /roll and I was fine with that. I feel that DKP is unnecessary in a 10 man instance where only 1-3 people tops are likely to need the item anyway. Now, my current guild prolly runs KZ once or twice a week, we bring our alts or whoever, and most of the stuff gets DE'd anyway. But my guild is good people and I've never really wanted to scream "LOOT WHORE!" at anyone, no matter if it was in Kara, ZA, or any 25 man raid. I understand that DKP is important for making sure the people that put the most effort into cutting edge content get reward first. The thing is, like the guy says, most people consider Kara to be like a slightly harder UBRS now, it's been nerfed a lot and most raiders can sleepwalk through it-- I'm one of them. I realise there are guilds there that are just starting KZ and that can't clear it, but they're the minority. Sorry if this sounds elitist, I am a bit, just saying if I was that guy I wouldn't want to stay in a guild that uses DKP in Kara either. But I get your perspective as well. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5188634.html Those aren't bots, they're all controlled by the same player. They simply have 5 accounts and 5 copies of WoW running, and make macros so that when they activate an ability on one character, it reads as that keystroke in every copy of WoW. It is not a bot, as the definition of that is something that can play without having human activation or input. Those teams need to have someone behind the keyboard controlling all the characters. http://www.wowwiki.com/Multiboxing has a lot more information and videos on those teams you hate so much :P Personally, if I was rich and had the software and the money I'd do it, it looks fun to me. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5198793.html Agree. When my guildies don't want to instance, which is often, I pug. I would say I have about a 65% positive to 35% negative pug experience...that is, the majority of them are successful, and the ones that fail due to idiot players are in the minority (and talking for heroics here cause I don't really do normal instances much). ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5208086.html we had the rogue win a fist weapon just before a wipe, and the event despawned before he could loot it off the corpse. he managed to actually get it by ticketing a GM, so just incase that happens again, its good to know =P *a rogue even. blarg. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5218275.html i met one of my now-best-friends irl when he randomly healed and buffed me in epl. stuff like that is neat :p ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5222902.html What MissNips said. Unless you have 2 healers in T6 or equivalent, ZA is VERY HARD to heal. My guild takes 3. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5235203.html For strats and stuff read wowwiki, it's pretty precise. I don't know if it mentions it, but on the last boss, surprisingly few people know about the haste buffs you can get. The room is very big and in each corner there is a large crystal sort of ramp on the floor (surrounded by smaller versions nearby) - if you stand on or walk over this you'll get a really good haste buff that increases your melee and spellcasting speed. however, only 1 person can grab a buff from each crystal (4 total) and once its gone, its gone. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5241903.html I'd consider the following factors- 1) what level the lockbox is and what quality the loot inside is likely to be. I don't tip more than the likely worth of the loot, because unless I get a rare it kind of negates the worth of having a box in the first place. 2) your own level and how much money you have. your first character/lowbie/fresh 70 isn't expected to have much money, but if you've been 70 for awhile or have multiple 70s, chances are you're rich and should tip a couple gold. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5245362.html congrats! I was in exactly the same situation when my guild killed him...500 bloody rep off my ring >_ ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5254859.html I usually go between 5 and 15 fps in Shatt, when my normal fps is around 60. I'm fine in every other zone, but Shatt screws me up. Sadly unless you have a GREAT system combined with a good connection, that's just how it is :/ My friend had the same problem until he upgraded his RAM and got a new video card. As others said, try Hellfire Pen and the Dark Portal. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5255202.html I got the croc and I destroyed it because I think it's fugly and creepy. I have a feeling minipet collectors everywhere hate me. ************** A male night elf hunter in my guild that enjoys fishing but seems to share my distaste for the crocodile pet did the following: https://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x81/MagiLukahn/Baby_Crocolisk_Is_Yummy.jpg Sadly, my fishing character is a priest. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5255563.html It is possible to hold two stones, but the buff does not stack (so you can't get 80%+ from pots, but you will get teh dmg and healing). ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5301245.html I got the same frostsaber as you as my first mount. Seems like ages ago now, grats :P ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5320901.html My friend and I are pretty well off in game. When it was my birthday, he gave me a bunch of flasks (because I raid a lot, and you can never have too many flasks) and some low-level rare armor he crafted for my alt. When it was his birthday, I spent 400g on the AH on (after utterly failing to farm it) the Firefly pet for him, because he's a fan of the TV series it references. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5323650.html your bars seem absolutely fine. really all there is to healing aside from that is anticipating who is going to take damage, being able to change targets quickly, and stopping your casts to preserve mana when someone you thought was going to take dmg is not in fact going to. oh and of course as a pally, cleansing and throwing bop around when necessary. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5332785.html This is mainly a post made out of curiousity, but I'm wondering if there are any female Gladiators/Duelists/generally high ranked arena players in this community? Seems there are quite a few women in hardcore raiding guilds that post, but I don't recall having seen m/any posts from females that do top end arena. Mainly to quell my curiousity, if there are any such lurking, what class(es), specs and compositions do you play, and at what rating? How did you get into it? Who do you play with? I don't consider myself high ranked, my ratings are average, but since I'm asking I may as well give a brief intro. I play a Disc Priest on Bloodlust-US and S3 is the first season I've played "seriously". At the start of S3 I got over 1800 in 2s and 5s quite a few times but never reached 1850. Unfortunately, several of my partners quit the game and my 5s disbanded leaving my 2s inactive, so I took a 2 month break from Arena. Now I'm reforming my teams with new people and looking for some motivation to possibly get my S3 wep before S4 starts =P ************** My partner and I actually got matched up against Hafu once in 2v2, I have no idea wth was up with the match rating system that day, we were at 1830~ and they were above 2k. Took a grand total of 3 points from us =P I had no idea Hafu was actually a girl. That's pretty cool. ************** Yeah, I played on the test tourney realm when it was up, it was incredibly fun. Met some crazy teams and some utterly retarded ones there. Too bad I had noone to sign up with at the time the actualy Tournament started. ************** So what class do you play? I'm a raider too but in the process of switching mains, PVP is more appealing to me until I can play my priest in PVE as well. ************** yeah, the psychological factor of Warglaives is... =P There are only 2 glaives on my server atm sadly, neither of which are in my guild. anyway congrats! I have a question, mainly how hard was it for you guys at first? Everyone says PMR is easy and (in theory) it seems exactly that, but I tried a PMR team last night and we split even in the 1600s, it was pretty disappointing. ************** Yeah, I feel bad for ferals. I've seen one or two high ranked feral druids around, no idea what their team comps are, but its definitely rare. Play what makes you happy though, IMO. ************** ohnoes =( That's terrible about the title. Priest/Mage is a funny thing... everyone knows it's a weird combo, but I've heard of some teams getting over 2k with it. And I lost to it once when playing on the TTR with a decent rogue I pugged on my team. I seem to know plenty of rogues, my problem is mages, there's like ONE good PVP mage on our server who plays for like 10 teams already. ************** I'm on Bloodlust too, I totally understand where you're coming from. If I'd known how hard the battlegroup was going to be, I probably wouldn't have chosen my server (I xfer/rerolled at BC) unless I had a hardcore group of PVP friends (which I don't, and never truly have). I know people exaggerate and hype up Bloodlust but it really seems true that 1800 here is 2k on some other battlegroups. I've known people personally that transferred OFF to get their weps and shoulders, then transferred back. Like you I'm way too attached now to leave. I tried RMP last night, it went embarrassingly badly for how easy the combo is-- we just could not seem to coordinate our ccs. Not sure how much of it was my fault vs the guys I was playing with, I was in charge of calling out focus and ccs targets but it just didn't seem to 'click'. btw what's your 5s name? My 5s just hit over 1700, maybe we'll run into eachother =P ************** wow, grats! I've heard double melee is great, thinking about running it in 3s. I feel it's harder to run as a priest than a shammy or druid though. and yes, drama FTL. ************** I contemplated making 2 priests, cause I really love the class, but I'm too attached to my character to make a separate one for a separate purpose. Means I get reamed by respecs, sadly =/ My priest is NE as well. ************** I was shadow in S1 but got bored of that so stopped playing arenas... in S3 I found out how fun Disc can be :P If it makes any difference, I've heard ret is pretty good on double melee teams now. ************** nice, what BG? Warrior/Priest is a weird combo, that's pretty impressive. I'm levelling a Druid as well, with the "if you can't beat em, join em" mentality. ************** Druids are entirely responsible for my lack of the S3 wep, every time my partner and I would get to 1800 or so we'd run into a bunch of druid teams and fall back down. Unfortunately my partner wasnt interested enough to practice on those teams or really do more than 10-15 games a week, I know they are beatable, its just an uphill struggle in most cases. so yeah, my thoughts exactly. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5355631.html This happened to an officer in our guild a while ago. He had limited Gbank withdrawals but the priviledge to promote people to gbank withdrawal level...so the hackers created a TON of lvl 1 alts, invited them to the guild, and promoted them to withdraw more. It happened at about 3am when no officers were on, and took us like 4 weeks to get the bank back :( sorry to hear about your own case, i hope you get everything back much faster. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5369502.html wow, your guild sounds like ass. if they won't let you be the spec you want they should PAY for your respecs...and as for the vent comment....WOW. leave. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5380225.html i've had that glitch, our raid members were able to get badges/loot by ticketing a gm.. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5403395.html All those things would get you kicked from the raid, or even the guild, in many other guilds. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5408524.html i've been winning roughly 50/50 on alliance bloodlust. seems like sometimes both teams forget about d because even my losses netted a lot of honor. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5461194.html The worst times for my guild seem to have been the 2 months it took us to kill Kael'thas (before attunements were removed) and the 2months it took us to kill Archimonde (we didn't do any further work on BT at all until then). Pretty much, if progression stagnates things can get ugly, and its the officers' responsibility to keep the schedule fresh and the raiders motivated. Then again, if the raiders themselves are not capable, then progression will never happen. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5491894.html Sell it, gem prices will decrease after the vendor opens most likely. Btw, if you can get it cut into something popular (the agi or spelldam or healing cuts) you may be able to sell it for more than the raw gem (but check the AH first). ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5547452.html Haha, this is kind of what happened with out first Vashj kill =P She was at 1% and we had only 1 rogue alive, dpsing her, the whole raid was dead. Well he crit her and caused a killing blow at the exact same time he was killed by her, lol. Anyway congratulations, that's great! ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5557042.html I ran a Zul'Gurub last night, it was tons of fun as half the raid had never gone there. I'm planning on running MC/BWL/AQ and possibly Naxx in the next couple months for my post-BC friends as well. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/5574238.html This. Even if the bot is modded not to buy white items, there are some blue/green items you could easily do this with. Why not profit off this guy's asshattery before inducing the banhammer? ------------------------------------
