Posts/comments on wow_ladies (Livejournal) from illurith March 2009 - July 2009 There's some dispute over whether this is actually her or one of her guildmates, however, data is included for the sake of completenesss ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/9118242.html Raiding Woes Hey ladies, long time lurker and first time poster. I actually made a journal just so I could post in this community. I really just need a sympathetic ear as well as some advice. I recently transferred to a server to play with a few of my RL friends & my boyfriend. I left an established, well progressed 25man raiding guild to do this that was very successful in BC (cleared Sunwell). My boyfriend and I are now the co-GMs of a small 10man guild that runs Naxx "guild-blind" i.e we have regular members from many other small guilds whom we treat as if they were our guild members in regards to loot and repair bills priviledges. I am not happy though. I am usually very competitive at raiding and not used to being in a "casual" guild that only does 10-man Naxx. I greatly wish to progress to 25mans and do Maly, Drakes, etc. I have had some limited and terrible experiences with PUG Naxx-25 and Maly on my server that I do not wish to repeat. Joining a big raiding guild is also out of the question due to the following reasons- My faction side on the server is incredibly dead progressionwise; FIVE of the top raiding guilds either transferred or disbanded at the start of Wrath (which was just when I transferred *to* here)-- there are only a few guilds left that clear Naxx25, only 3 that have done 25Sarth3D and 1 that has managed 3 drakes 10. I do not wish to join any of these guilds because a) they contain people I highly dislike or b) it would be extremely disloyal to my boyfriend and friends in my current guild. We are a very unique guild personality-wise in that our members are laid back, intelligent, have a good sense of humour, are not jackasses, not loot whores and not gigantic tools. I love the atmosphere, I love hanging out and talking on vent, but WOW is just not satisfying for me if I can't progress my character (I am full Naxx10/heroic geared). On the flip side, I don't play to raid without social interaction: Raiding is pleasant for me when I can acheive things in the company of people whom I at least can tolerate, if not outright like. I'm not the only one in my guild/alliance that wants to run 25man Naxx, but I am horrified at the thought of the cat-herding fest that our first run might turn into. Realm forums are also a no-go for recruitment, as any thread I make is flamed by members of the top guild on the server with "ur bad lol" posts (you can see why I don't want to join). I probably know about 15 people split up among various guilds who might run 25-mans. My questions are as such- How does one build a 25man raiding alliance from the ground up? How do you get people to take you seriously as an alliance rather than see you as a glorified pug? How successful should I hope a first run to be? Are there better ways to recruit than trade and realm forums? How can I keep people's morale up when we might initially struggle to fill a whole 25 raid? Any other tips are appreciated, this is generally just a "HALP OMG WUT DO I DO" post mixed with a vent. But I really, really want to be able to form a raiding group that will at least rival my old guild in its ability to clear content, and I refuse to sacrifice the company of my friends just so I can get phat purps. I would really like to be successful and help bring PVE on my faction back to life and I do not want to give up and be forced to transfer back to my old server. Thank you. ************** Cornkitty soothes all pain. ************** Nope, not Velen. Congrats on being of the Nightfall though! And yes, I know Naxx is easy, but the amount of stupidity/fail I've seen in every pug for 25 I've been in is abominable - druids asking on Loatheb "was anyone getting something that was blocking ur heals lol" - all but 10 people dying on Heigan resulting in a 30 minute fight - hunters who stand alone at 30 yards from Thane Korthazz "because I have to shoot" and pally tanks whose excuse for losing aggro is "i clicked consecrate off my bars sry"....er, the list goes on. I'd like to be as selective as possible if I choose to run raids but I'm mortally afraid of failure from these previous experiences. Gear is no longer much of a measure for detecting someone's skill or knowledge in advance as it's quite easy to receive a few free loots in one way or another even if you are awful. And to me, fun is = winning or in this case, not wiping endlessly on Noth because all 6 mages/druids/r-shamans in the raid lost their decurse button. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/9119523.html i hope you were being facetious, they took that out of the games many moons ago. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/9735767.html Recruiting... Hi ladies (and lads). I posted a while ago lamenting how barren my server was and how I didn't want to leave my friends to join another hardcore raid guild on another server. Anyway, in the time since then my guild has started running a raid alliance on my server that clears Naxx 25. However, we have some really amazing people in our group at the moment and then some more, um, "meh" people. The kind of person who shows up late to a raid, goes afk for extended periods, and stands in voids--and doesn't care. I am fine with bringing these people to 25man Naxx each week as it's pretty much a faceroll for us, but I just know for a fact that these people are going to wipe us over and over in Ulduar and I don't want to bring them. I've discussed it with my co-GM and the others in our "core" group and we've basically decided we have to recruit more in order to be what we want to be-- an efficient, self-sufficient group of raiders who don't yell, don't incite drama, don't e-peen but get things done and work on bosses and acheivements that are actually hard (like 2D Sarth and now, Ulduar beyond Flame Loot Pinata). I have been trying to recruit quite aggressively but my server is extremely barren on our faction- the few competent raiders that are not in my guild's alliance are already in progressing raiding guilds. Every person who has responded to me via trade adverts has raised immediate red flags, so that's not an option. I have multiple threads on many WOW-related forums recruiting cross server, and actually went through about 10 pages of wowlemmings.com responding to every advert that seemed even remotely viable. The trouble is, the people I most want to join my guild (and I can tell would excell or sound like a good fit) are people who want to join a guild that is -at- the level of progression I want us to be at, not working towards it. I'm partly looking for more advice (have we just missed the boat? We have some very solid people with a ton of raiding experience who are great at their roles like I said-- it's just that the other half of our group requires constant hand holding and carrying, which we CAN'T do if we want to progress at the rate we're aiming for)-- so how can I tempt people to join our guild? Especially I might add, on a server with a poor population. I don't want to join another raiding guild, I don't want to server transfer. I'm pleased that we've accomplished a 1-day Naxx25 clear-- something I couldn't even see happening a month ago-- but I don't know how to push the next step from there. We did some semi-decent attempts at Sarth 2d for an hour yesterday and on our 1d kill only 1 person died, so I know we have the potential to grow. I'm just plain our of ideas on how to find more people that actually know what they are doing in a raiding environment. So-- anyone got any suggestions? Also, and just for the hell of it, here is a link to my recruitment post: forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html ************** Hey, I sent you a response ^^ ************** The times I have wished that Alliance and Horde could group/raid together are many :( What sucks is that there are a lot of awesome Horde players on my server who I've become friends with via the forums and ventrilo, but we can never raid together. ************** Yeah, I could probably trim it down-- I have a problem with my writing being overly verbose. The thing is though, my guild is specifically trying to attract people who have a decent attention span or actually want to know what they're getting into. Most guild adverts are so incredibly generic that you just get random dudes applying randomly and I don't want that- we're trying to attract a specific type of person, people who are patient, willing to listen (or read) and actually care about the type of person in the guild as well as the phat loots. I might try re-writing it and see what comes of it. Thanks! ************** Er the other thing I might add is that I feel honesty is important in our adverts- we aren't very progressed because we are very new, and I don't wish to attract players expecting to start insta-farming Ulduar who then /gquit 2 weeks later because we aren't up to their standards. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/9735955.html Blizzard has stated that 10man Ulduar is tuned for people wearing 10man Naxx gear. The OP didn't really indicate if her raid was decked out in full 10-man epics, but if they are then gear shouldn't be the issue (or Ulduar is overtuned on 10man which is ENTIRELY possible). ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/9736613.html Crashing is different from scheduled downtime because it is, um, literally crashing. If there is too much information for the server to handle then it will crash - just like a PC can crash. It's not scheduled, or planned, it's a crash. There are a variety of factors that can contribute to this. Normally a Blizzard tech will get the server restarted promptly. There's nothing you can do about it, however. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/9742178.html This is the easiest order to do the wings in, IMO. However my group tends to start with the "hardest" wing on both 10 and 25 these days because we figure it's better to tackle it before everyone starts to get tired. It really depends on how much confidence you have in your group... ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/9769230.html I actually like Flame Leviathan and this is coming from someone who -hates- vehicles. I cannot stand Oculus or the Eye or any of the quests in Northrend, but FL is pretty fun. As a general instance, so far I like Ulduar. I find it aestheticaclly pleasing once you get past the siege quarter. The trash is challenging so you cam't fall asleep on it... and some of the bosses are interesting. Its much nicer than Naxx, at any rate-- I have no complaints yet. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/9894089.html sadly titles like "Mrs" are against the TOS- maybe just Badcrumble? ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/9917476.html Why would you stay? Progression guilds are tuppence, people with integrity and decency are not. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/10167799.html I've posted here before about the raiding guild I co-run. Please read on if you are Alliance on US realms and looking for a stellar group of good chaps (and chapettes) to have a jolly good time slaying some rather brutish internet dragons. Salutations, I'm co-GM of the . We are a guild that transitioned from 10-man raiding to 25s in the past couple months. We are currently 7/14 after 2-3 weeks in Ulduar 25 on a 2-day raid schedule. The Stone of Jordan on Maelstrom Alliance is looking for more. We seek players of above average to exceptional skill who are intelligent, proficient in their class, and can commit to a regular schedule of raiding. You don't have to have 100% attendance, we are just looking for people who will be there as much as they can be, and who are prepared to put in the work that's necessary to make this game fun. So why should I join the Stone of Jordan? We are extremely sociable, friendly and humorous. We enjoy talking on vent even when not raiding and spend most of our time making (in)appropriate jokes, puns, and entendres. Everyone who comes to our raids says "You guys are cool to hang with". Our leaders and officers have been playing WoW since release, have raided almost all the content since, and have played most classes to 60 or above, so we collectively have a very good understanding of how both individual classes and the raid as a whole should function. You can count on us to know what's going on most of the time, and won't have to deal with ignorance or poor leadership. We are very laid-back about loot for the most part; we frown upon people who get upset over it (without good cause, that is). Whilst loot is part of why we raid, we try not to let it control our actions or cloud our vision, and members often pass to eachother if someone needs a particular item badly. We have the mentality that every piece of loot the raid as a whole receives makes it stronger, and it's in our interest to gear all our players as fairly as possible. We are a very generous guild, and are happy to help anyone who puts in the time and effort to come to our raids in making their character better and fielding raid supplies. We have a 100g/day allowance for guild bank repairs (more for our main tanks), and will often give out free flasks, potions, food etc during raids. We'll help you with gemming, speccing, glyphing and so on if you need it. We are NOT a charity, but we believe that you get out what you put in, so we have no problem helping you if you need it. Our members are also extremely helpful, again not to the point where we're willing to be taken advantage of, but if you need a Heroic run or something crafted, or a port or something for your alt, the chances are someone will be willing to help you in the near future. Finally, all of our current members understand the fundamental ways progression is made, have previous experience doing so (with many credentials in near- or full- clears of all pre-BC and BC content), and are willing to put in the effort needed. What about the technicalities? Raid invites go out at 6pm CST, which is server time, and raids tend to last until 10/11pm. We do 25s on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and run 10s on Fridays (sometimes with continuation over the weekend). We have full-cleared all pre-Ulduar raids and are now 7/14 Heroic Ulduar. Our members participate in two different 10-man Ulduar groups, one that we run ourselves and one run by our sister/bastard son/redheaded stepchild guild . We're 11/14 and 13/14 in these two groups respectively, and have 3-tower Flame Lev on 10 (Easy hardmodes go! This number will probably go up to 4 pretty soon). We distribute loot via loot council made up of officers and seniors in our raids. Okay, so what and who are you guys recruiting? Firstly, if you're a good player who's interested, we urge you to apply no matter what class you play- the odds are currently that we can fit you in. However, we are specifically recruiting the following: 1 Shadow Priest 1 Holy Priest 2 Rogues 1 Hunter (MM or Survival preferable) 1 Death Knight (Pref. Unholy - DPS with a strong tank off set is ideal) 1-2 Holy Paladins 1 Resto Druid and (possibly) a Moonkin and Feral. We have a couple people who already fill some of these roles, but their real-life schedules are not stable enough that they can attend nearly every raid, and some of this is pre-emptive recruitment (losing people to the military, summer break, etc). Sounds good, how can I find out more? Contact an officer in the guild in-game-- Andromache, Vivielle, Phalanxe or Alimea, either by whisper or in-game mail. We'll talk on vent and go from there. Even if you're not sure if you want to apply yet, you're welcome to ask any questions or just have a chat with us if we interest you in the slightest. On a final note, if you choose to armory us, we do have a fair chunk of our core raiders (probably about 10) who are not in our guild. We treat these people like guild members and in return they behave like guild members. We respect the fact that these people have social guilds they wish to stay in and we don't force people to join SoJ just to raid with us. That said, our raids operate in the same manner that any other guild's do. All our raids are run by us under our guild tag and by our rules at the times we specify. We do not like to re-invite people not in the Stone of Jordan unless they have committed to raid with us on a consistent basis. Thanks for reading, and thanks for your time. Reply post haste! ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/10282958.html The huge-ass warning is to genuinely deter adults who are account-sharing, it's not implying that you specifically are doing so. You can play both at the same time, multiboxing your own accounts is not/has never been illegal, and your son can (I think) use your account if he is under adult age. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/10283701.html Could I ask what guild this is? Just curious because a pretty notorious 25m guild from my own server just xferred there, I'm wondering if its them :V ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/10453772.html You don't target anyone to heal in P3, the only heal you have is an AOE one that is untargeted (aside from the hot you put on yourself). That's why everyone stacks. ------------------------------------ https://wow-ladies.livejournal.com/10550321.html Hi, I posted recruitment for my guild a month ago when we were just starting Ulduar. We've downed 8 bosses since then on our casual 2-day raid schedule so I hope it's okay if I post again :) We are currently recruiting players of almost every class/spec, with a focus on DPS and Healers. If you're an Alliance lady (or lad) on US realms, please read on. Salutations, I'm co-GM of the [Stone of Jordan] on Maelstrom-US (RP-PVP). We are a guild that transitioned from 10-man raiding to 25s in the past couple months, which is why we entered Ulduar later than its release. We are currently 8/14 after 3 weeks in Ulduar 25 on a 2-day raid schedule. We seek players of above average to exceptional skill who are intelligent, proficient in their class, and can commit to a regular schedule of raiding. We only raid 25-mans for 2 days a week, with the other days dedicated to 10-mans or alternate raids. We ask that you try and make 90% attendance for our 2 main 25-man days. So why should I join the Stone of Jordan? We are extremely sociable, friendly and humorous.
